Last night in Los Angeles, USA, Royce Gracie (Brasil) defeated Kazushi Sakuraba (Japan), by unanimous decision of the judges. The match had 3 rounds of 5 minutes and was a rematch of a historical combat won by Sakuraba in May of 2000, Japan. Despite not submitting his opponent, Royce was more active during the whole fight, convincing the judges and the public present at the LA Coliseum.
This victory is great news for BJJ, because it was Royce that made our sport grow all over the world thanks to his great performances in the early UFCs. Without him, BJJ would not have become so popular in the US, Europe and Japan.
The other brazilian on the card, Gesias Cavalcanti, won his match in incredible 26 seconds, knocking out his opponent with punches.
