Genova

Sunday, 27th of May, and we are back to Genova to teach half guard techniques in Andrea Cocco’s gym. BJJ Genova is affiliated to Robin Gracie Barcelona, and their place is located in a nice dancing schools, on normal days the place is packed with beautiful girls learning how to dance ballet, jazz, salsa, tango, but it was Sunday, the place is closed, so it was only us the BJJ people training šŸ˜¦

No worries, we had good fun drilling reversals and sweeps from the half guard, and I was happy to know that only one week before, Andrea and Gianluca from Genova got their deserved purple belts from their master Robin. I also graduated my student Erik from La Spezia with the blue belt yesterday and this time I decided to do before the seminar, we had trained last week and he has great skills in the ground. Erik trained Sambo and Grappling for years before putting the GI on and now comes regularly to Livorno to train with Bernardo. Pasquale, aka Obelix, my other purple belt from Livorno, came along and those pictures below were taken after the class.

This morning I got great news from Brasil too. The brazilian tournament has just finished and our student Igor Rodrigues won the first place in the brown belt adult rooster weight division. Baixinho, as he is also known, trains with my black belt Marco Chuck in Buzios and regularly goes to Cabo Frio to train with Rob Machado. Last year he won the Mundials in the purple belt but later had a knee surgery and had to step out for a while. Now he is back and in great shape and proved on the Brazilian Nationals!

  1. Dear Roberto, it has been a great pleasure for me to know you, your technique in bjj is outstanding and I used the position that you showed in Genova from the half guard to win my category – 94,3 kg. I hope to see you soon, thank you very much for my blue belt and for the beautiful words that you wrote about me. A presto caro Roberto, un abbraccio. ERIK
